Reel It In for the Reefs is South Florida’s annual community-wide reef cleanup sponsored by the Palm Beach County based nonprofit organization the National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation. Each year, divers, local boat dive operators, and volunteers unite from Stuart to Miami to remove debris and protect the reefs that make our coast thrive. These underwater habitats might be out of sight, but they’re essential to marine life, tourism, and our coastal communities.
Join us and be part of the difference beneath the surface.
Every year, thousands of pounds of debris and discarded fishing line threaten Florida’s coral reefs — the same reefs provide coastal protection, are crucial for marine biodiversity, and support economies through fishing and tourism. Unlike beach cleanups, this work can only be done beneath the surface. Reel It In for the Reefs mobilizes South Florida’s diving community to remove debris and restore balance to the ocean we all depend on.
From divers cutting fishing line off wrecks and reefs to captains hauling debris from the deep, every person who joins the cleanup has a story worth sharing. Here are a few of the faces behind the mission.
From divers and captains to volunteers on shore, everyone plays a part in protecting our ocean home. However you help—by joining, sponsoring, or giving—you’re keeping South Florida’s reefs alive.
